JobTrain, a Menlo Park-based educational and training institution, and Bohannon Development Company today announced they will hold a 2009 Diversity Career Fair on October 3 in Menlo Park. Leading Bay Area employers will be providing career guidance in a wide range of industries. The Bohannon organization recently announced an agreement with JobTrain to give local job seekers priority in hiring for the company’s Menlo Gateway Project now under consideration by the City of Menlo Park.

The Career Fair is open to the public and will be held Saturday, October 3 at 190 Independence Drive, in Menlo Park, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Employers that will be present to provide career guidance include Kaiser Permanente, HIP Housing, Ravenswood Family Health Center, Keller Williams Realty, Aerotek, World Financial Group, Goodwill Industries, Collective Roots, PG&E, Sequoia Hospital, Bohannon Development Company, the Rosewood Hotel, DES Architects, and others.

"The Career Fair enables local candidates to meet professionals from these companies and learn more about careers with various employers on the Peninsula," said David Bohannon, senior vice president, Bohannon Development Company. "Whether a person is looking for his first position or seeking to further a career, the sponsoring companies will be able to provide insight on what education, experience and training is needed for these various companies."

JobTrain is a Menlo Park-based educational and training institution that serves adults and youth each year through in-school programs, evening classes, and vocational training programs. Graduates of JobTrain's Computer Service Technician, Culinary Arts, Office Skills, Project Build, and Solar Training programs are and have worked for many local companies including those attending the Career Fair on Saturday, October 3rd.

Menlo Gateway (www.MenloGateway.com) is a proposed combined hotel, fitness club, office, and open space project that will re-develop industrial land in Menlo Park, east of Highway 101. The project will aim for achieving LEED Gold certification while creating approximately 1600 new office jobs, 200 hospitality jobs, and 1900 temporary construction jobs. The project will also contribute nearly $1.7 million annually to Menlo Park's General Fund and property tax rolls.
