Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles Announces Online Duplicate Registration Request Service
AUGUSTA, Maine-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - Businesses and individuals who hold a valid Maine vehicle registration can now order a copy of their current vehicle registration online with a secure credit card payment. The service is available through the state’s official Web site, www.Maine.gov or at http://www.maine.gov/online/bmv/drr. The new service was launched by the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV).
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles processes approximately 30,000 duplicate registration requests each year. Previously, citizens had to request a duplicate registration using a paper form at a motor vehicle branch or municipal office during normal business hours.
With the online service, citizens can submit a duplicate registration request 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The $2 fee may be securely paid by Visa, MasterCard credit or debit card. Duplicate registrations will be mailed by the BMV. Not only does this bring convenience to citizens, it also helps to reduce the overall lines at BMV branch offices. The online service is available to anyone holding a valid Maine vehicle registration, including residents of all Maine municipalities and non-residents such as students and military personnel.
“The online duplicate registration request service will assist the Bureau of Motor Vehicles with reducing our manual processes,” said Clarissa Hurley, Bureau of Motor Vehicles Online Service Branch Manager. “Fewer paper forms and less manual data entry will result in time-savings for both BMV and municipal staff.”
This online service enhances the popular suite of electronic services available through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, including vehicle registration renewal, trailer registration renewal, driver record orders, and vanity license plate orders. More than 400 online government services are now available through www.Maine.gov.
