LaBarge Receives $1.9 Million Contract from Raytheon for JSOW Program
ST. LOUIS-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - LaBarge, Inc. (NYSE Amex: LB) has been awarded a $1.9 million contract from Raytheon Missile Systems to continue to provide complex cable harnesses for the JSOW (Joint Standoff Weapon) system.
The JSOW program is a family of affordable, air-to-ground weapons that employ global positioning satellite information to guide the weapons to the target. More than 400 JSOWs have been used in combat operations, including more than 300 in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The JSOW family uses a common and modular weapon body capable of carrying various payloads. Its long standoff range of approximately 70 nautical miles allows delivery from well outside the lethal range of most enemy air defenses. JSOW is a joint U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force program.
LaBarge, a Raytheon preferred supplier, will perform the work at its Joplin, Mo., facility. Production is expected to begin October 2009 and continue through November 2010.
