Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, Nationals Superstore Opens in Waldorf
WALDORF, Md.-(Business Wire)-September 25, 2009 - A new store catering to the needs of Redskins, Wizards, Capitals and Nationals fans and their lifestyle opened yesterday in Waldorf, Md., announced retail chain HomeGamers President Marc Heyman.
The HomeGamers superstore is located at the St. Charles Towne Center Mall. Visitors to its 6,500 square foot showroom will be treated to full lines of licensed sporting goods for professional and college teams featuring hard-to-get items like logoed barbeque grills and canopies for tailgating all the way up to team recliners and pool tables. The store also carries furnishings for lifestyle rooms like the game room and home theater including items such as air hockey tables, arcade games, foosball tables, juke boxes, home bars and stools, and pinball machines.
“HomeGamers is all about ‘lifestyle,’ and it shouldn’t take your whole life to find the stuff you want to buy to live that lifestyle,” explained new franchisee Chris Guldi. “That’s what drew me to buying a HomeGamers franchise, but it was the knowledge and dedication of the management team that convinced me to buy the franchise. I was also really surprised to learn that HomeGamers was the only chain in this hybrid industry. You’d think there’d be more because there is definitely demand for it.”
What Guldi was referring to was the fact that HomeGamers franchise system is the only concept in a hybrid industry that straddles established NAICS industries like Furniture Stores, Sporting Good Stores, and Family Clothing Stores within the retail sector, explained Heyman’s business partner Jeff Hinton. These three industries reported more than $88 billion in sales to the U.S. Census according to the “2002 Economic Census, Retail Trade” report issued in October 2005.
This all bodes well for the new franchise concept. The first HomeGamers store opened in March 2007 in the Town Mall of Westminster and since then business has been brisk. They launched their franchise program the following year and this is their first unit to open. Heyman indicated that they have also received numerous other inquiries from people in major sports markets interested in bringing a HomeGamers to their community.
