NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-September 25, 2009 - Brookhaven Retreat wishes to issue the following clarification to its release, NewsItemID 20090923005916, (TN-BROOKHAVEN-RETREAT) "New Report Shows Women Who Choose Brookhaven Retreat Have Greater Success With Recovery" issued Wednesday, September 23, 2009:

This statement is being issued to correct a September 23, 2009 press release by Brookhaven Retreat. Earlier this year The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University conducted a convenience sample survey of Brookhaven alumni and reported the results of that survey to Brookhaven. There is no way to determine the extent to which the answers provided by survey respondents might compare with the views of non-responding alumni, and no comparison was conducted of alumni from other treatment facilities. Also, the sentence that “73 percent said they were better able to function effectively at home or work once they completed their stay” should read “73 percent of respondents said their definition of successful recovery was that they were better able to function effectively at home or work.” CASA’s analysis did not examine whether women who chose Brookhaven Retreat for their mental health and substance abuse therapy treatment have a greater chance of successful recovery than those who select other residential treatment facilities, and CASA does not endorse or support any particular program or service provided by Brookhaven Retreat.

* The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University is neither affiliated with, nor sponsored by, the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (also known as "CASA”) or any of its member organizations, or any other organizations with the name of "CASA".
