Sidley Partner Debra Pole Named to the DirectWomen Board Institute Class of 2009
NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-September 25, 2009 - Sidley Austin LLP is pleased to announce that Debra Pole has been named as a member of DirectWomen Board Institute Class of 2009, a program designed to identify and promote qualified women lawyers to serve on corporate boards of public companies. The 2009 DirectWomen Board Institute will be held at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York on October 28-30, 2009.
The DirectWomen initiative is a collaboration between Catalyst and the American Bar Association Section of Business Law that identifies, develops and supports accomplished women lawyers for service on U.S. corporate boards, while also promoting the independence and diversity required for good corporate governance. The Institute will include the Sandra Day O’Connor Board Excellence Award Luncheon, which recognizes and honors women lawyers who serve on the boards of public companies, lead corporate America and epitomize the value of diversity in the boardroom.

Ms. Pole is a partner in Sidley’s Los Angeles Litigation group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. She is the Practice Group leader for the Products Liability and Mass Torts Practice in Los Angeles where she trains, supervises, and manages a number of lawyers and paraprofessionals, and one of the firm’s Global Leaders in the products liability area. She is a seasoned trial lawyer with experience in multi-district litigation, class actions and products liability litigation. Ms. Pole has extensive jury trial experience in both federal and state courts involving mass tort litigation, class actions, complex litigation and Daubert proceedings.
Sidley has a long-standing commitment to recruiting, retaining and promoting women lawyers. Sidley was recently named as a 2009 Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firm for Women.
