Grand Canyon University Offers Executive MBA Scholarships
PHOENIX-(Business Wire)-September 24, 2009 - Tough times also provide an opportunity for reflection and honing new skills, and in the current economic climate, there's no better time than the present for those who have been on the fence about pursuing an MBA.
"As we emerge from this recession, the value of this degree cannot be underestimated," said Taylor Carr, director of the Ken Blanchard Executive MBA program at Grand Canyon University (GCU).
To motivate prospects who might consider a return to school to advance their career, GCU is offering scholarships of up to $5,000 for those accepted into the program by the early-bird deadline of Oct. 31. The next class begins in February.
“If anything, the economic climate has increased the value of strong leadership, particularly the kind of leadership that Dr. Blanchard has talked about and written about for years,” Carr said.
The uniqueness of the Ken Blanchard Executive MBA program (EMBA) is in its servant leadership philosophy, which is woven throughout the curriculum and emphasizes a leader’s impact on a wide range of stakeholders – both internal and external. Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills that create value for customers, keep employees fully engaged, and ensure profitability and sustainability.
The 12-month blended-learning program features three four-day residencies, or in-person sessions in San Diego and Phoenix, with Ken Blanchard and other EMBA advisory board members including Harvey Mackay, former Southwest Airlines President Colleen Barrett and other nationally known business leaders. The remainder of the coursework is done online, allowing maximum flexibility for busy executives.
“The relevancy is immediate,” Carr said. “Students constantly tell us that what they learned in class yesterday was applicable to their roles as leaders today.”
The Ken Blanchard EMBA program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). GCU's institutional accreditation is through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. GCU's regional accreditation is an attractive feature for students located out of state who desire a rich academic experience from a credible institution. GCU was recently recognized by an online learning systems provider for its robust online curriculum.
The Ken Blanchard EMBA program has initiated a per-credit billing system rather than a one-time tuition fee, which provides a more flexible financial arrangement for its students and the opportunity to maximize corporate reimbursements that might be available on an annual basis. Because of the program scheduling, students might be able to leverage two annual reimbursements to pay for the program.
