IMDb created the new international sites specifically to help Spanish- and Italian-speaking movie and TV lovers easily find information for their favorite films, TV shows and celebrities. The site launches are sponsored by Warner Bros.’ movie “The Informant!” opening in theaters in Italy on Sept. 18, 2009 and in Spain on Sept. 25, 2009.
“Our customers have asked us to make IMDb websites available in their local language. Today, we’re happy to continue to expand our offering with websites created for Spanish and Italian speakers,” said Colin Bryar, vice president, IMDb.com.
In addition to all the data on films, TV shows and celebrities, IMDb.es and IMDb.it will also offer a rich set of popular IMDb.com features such as message boards, user comments, and local news.
Unique IMDb international features include the ability to search for movies in the local language and view the results in the same language as the site. Visitors can also get instant access to additional English data on IMDb.com. All IMDb international sites are completely free of charge to all users and will offer help and customer support in the local language.
