Halfpenny Technologies Announces Launch of Health Information Exchange (HIE) Portal and Release of Version 3.0 of the Integration Technology Framework™
BLUE BELL, Pa.-(Business Wire)-September 24, 2009 - Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a leading HIE solutions provider specializing in laboratory, pathology and physician electronic medical record (EMR) system interoperability, has introduced a Web-based portal that enables physicians to order laboratory procedures and review results in a secure, HIPAA compliant environment from the hospital or laboratory through a standard Web browser. The portal, named ITF-Portal, is being launched in conjunction with the release of Version 3.0 of Halfpenny’s proprietary Integration Technology Framework (ITF) HIE platform. ITF is a highly specialized interface engine that connects physician EMR systems with hospitals and laboratories.
The introduction of ITF-Portal and ITF Version 3.0 combined with Halfpenny’s existing EMR integration capabilities will enable physicians and hospitals to meet several key provisions of the HITECH Act’s proposed definitions of meaningful use, including computerized physician order entry (CPOE), quality reporting and laboratory test results reporting to EMRs.
In addition, the newly enhanced ITF will further extend the functionality of legacy hospital and laboratory information systems (HIS/LIS), which are typically difficult to integrate with Web-based applications.
“The enhancements to ITF Version 3.0 reflect the feedback of numerous clients using the platform for EMR integration and other clinical interface needs,” said Charles Halfpenny, president and founder of Halfpenny Technologies. “Real world use and client successes have always been the key drivers in the evolution of our connectivity solutions.”
ITF-Portal features Google-like search capability, streamlined single page order entry and significantly shorter implementation timeframes when compared to older, existing systems. In addition, the portal supports PDF generation for facilities unable to transmit or receive discrete data. Among the new enhancements to ITF Version 3.0, which is tightly integrated with ITF-Portal, are improved redundancy, broader scalability, enhanced alerting and centralized management.
“This new offering is the result of combining the capabilities of a number of time-tested Halfpenny solutions into a unified, integrated portal,” said Jerry Baker, CEO of Halfpenny Technologies. “The opportunity to leverage the most recent search and browser presentation technologies will provide users with the ease of use that they are accustomed to in other daily Web-based activities.”
