DALLAS-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - CONEXIS and educational partner North Lake College announced today that they are joint recipients of a grant in excess of $500,000 from the Texas Workforce Commission, a state network committed to the development of the Texas workforce and providing access to local workforce solutions. The grant will fund the creation of a new training program that fuses CONEXIS’ corporate training department with North Lake College’s curriculum.

The program begins Aug. 31, 2009 and concludes Aug. 30, 2010, and provides enhanced training for CONEXIS staff in computer programming, customer service, communications, project management, and software development. All CONEXIS employees have access to the 67-course offering and can take classes at work. Classes are taught by North Lake College educators and the CONEXIS trainers. North Lake College is a leader in developing innovative and productive partnerships with local businesses, the community, and other educational institutions.

CONEXIS’ Director of Training, Jennifer Jernigan, anticipates the program “will allow CONEXIS employees to take advanced training programs in key development areas while expanding the scope of the CONEXIS training department.”

The overall goal of the grant funding is to enhance the capacity and ability of community colleges, such as North Lake College, to respond to industry and workforce training needs. By issuing grants to assist in the development of customized assessment and training for employers, the Texas Workforce Commission hopes to increase the skill level and wages of the local workforce.
