Northwest Evaluation Association Launches SPARK Community
PORTLAND, Ore.-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to partnering to help all kids learn, is pleased to announce the official launch of SPARK, its online community for educators. The SPARK Community debuted to a couple hundred users in June 2009 at the NWEA Summer Conference in Portland, Ore. Since its soft launch, nearly 600 teachers, administrators and others involved in education have joined the community.
“We designed the SPARK Community as an expression of our mission and our commitment to partnership,” said Matt Chapman, president and CEO of NWEA. “It’s a groundbreaking effort to bring together resources and conversation, all with a focus on fostering an education system that’s kid-centric. We look forward to watching the community evolve as partners and others with an interest in education engage, debate, inspire and share.”
The NWEA SPARK Community is a place for education professionals to:
- Read and comment on blog posts from NWEA staff and the organization’s partners on a range of topics including: Roles that influence and shape education, education during economic turbulence and strategies for instruction
- Participate in discussion forums and share strategies and successes regarding MAP assessments
- Search for and share resources such as lesson plans, classroom presentations, reports, podcasts and videos, available exclusively to current NWEA partners.
