Product Partners Powers Social Business Model Using Liferay Software
LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - Liferay, Inc., provider of leading open source software for the enterprise, announced the recent launch of TeamBeachBody.com, a revenue-generating social network built using the award-winning Liferay Portal. The site was commissioned by Product Partners, one of the largest direct-response TV sellers of weight loss merchandise, to promote and distribute its branded health care and fitness products to a growing audience of over 1.1 million users.
Product Partners designed TeamBeachBody.com from the ground up to drive revenue growth by harnessing the natural social activity of the community around its products. The site is a public social network in which members discuss health and weight loss issues, access expert-published articles and advice, and share knowledge. Members are paid a percentage of all sales of Beachbody products that they refer to new members seeking recommendations from active community members. Hence participation in social activity such as posting to the site’s forums and blogs are part of a larger incentivized system of revenue generation.
