Top Washington DC and CA Energy Officials Discuss Future of Power Industry
-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - Power grid reliability that taps smart and green technologies is high on the nation’s agenda and California is leading the way as the electricity industry works to level the playing field for diverse resources competing in a new wholesale electricity market. The California Independent System Operator Corporation (California ISO) is hosting a first of its kind Stakeholder Symposium to facilitate a comprehensive discussion of market and grid issues. A broad spectrum of attendees is expected, including policymakers, consumer groups, utilities, market participants, the ISO Board of Governors and ISO executive management.
The Stakeholder Symposium features keynote addresses by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chair Jon Wellinghoff and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) President Michael Peevey. The agenda also includes four concurrent breakout sessions where topical discussions will be facilitated on: (1) environmental stewardship, (2) markets, monitoring and technology enhancements, (3) infrastructure development, and (4) operations and compliance. The breakout sessions will be conducted in the morning and afternoon to allow attendees to participate in the discussions of greatest interest to them. The symposium format is intended to promote lively and interactive discussions between various stakeholder segments.
