Ground-breaking Kids' TV Program Slangman's World to Air Exclusively on GPB This Fall
BURBANK, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - Starting October 5th, Slangman’s World (www.slangmansworld.com), a live-action/animated television series, will begin airing episodes on all nine Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB Media) stations. GPB reaches nearly four million people in Georgia and parts of South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida. The show has been described as Dr. Seuss meets Blue's Clues with a foreign-language twist.
Slangman’s World, LLC is currently producing ten episodes of Slangman’s World specifically for GPB Media. Each episode features live action, animation, and original songs written and performed by the show’s dynamic host and co-creator, “Slangman” David Burke.
“We can’t wait to introduce this imaginative new series to children and their families around Georgia,” said Teya Ryan, President and Executive Director of GPB Media. “We are committed to producing and broadcasting fresh and innovative programs that will inspire and engage kids and their parents, but we also want to bring a sense of joy to learning, which is exactly the spirit that Slangman’s World conveys.”
On Slangman's World, host Slangman—a quirky, fun-loving inventor—introduces children ages 2-6 to world languages and cultures through music, animation, and magic. Slangman interacts with the show’s animated characters and home viewers by encouraging them to participate in each learning adventure and sing along with each song.
Cosmic Toast™ Studios, LLC is heading up all aspects of production for Slangman’s World with studio partner Andrew Pagana directing. The show’s animation team includes members with credits including Nickelodeon, Klasky-Csupo, Disney, and Warner Bros.
As part of the agreement with GPB, Cosmic Toast Studios, LLC will also create several web-based language-learning games featuring Slangman’s World characters to support the launch of the new GPB Kids website. Both parties will assume marketing responsibilities in promotion of Slangman’s World and will also be joining forces in identifying potential corporate and underwriting opportunities.
Since January 2009, Slangman’s World has been airing in 174 countries on the American Forces Network (AFN) with the intention of helping military families integrate into their new environments overseas. The show is one of the first original children’s programs in the network’s 66-year history.
“We're thrilled that so many kids and parents across the globe love our show," said Slangman himself, David Burke. "By inspiring kids to celebrate world languages and cultures now, we're giving them the tools they'll need to succeed in an increasingly globalized future."
