PRTM Wins Awards for Providing Exceptional Support to National Guard and Reserve Employees
WASHINGTON & SAN DIEGO-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - PRTM, a worldwide management consulting firm, has won two state-level (Washington, D.C. and California) awards for providing outstanding support to its National Guard and Reserve employees. The Pro Patria Award in Washington, D.C. and the Above and Beyond Award in California, presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), are the U.S. government’s highest state-level awards.
PRTM was also selected as one of 131 semi-finalists for the ESGR’s national 2009 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The ESGR, a Department of Defense agency, received more than 3,200 nominations for both the national and state-level awards.
The awards are significant because only members of the National Guard and Reserve or their family members are eligible to nominate their employers. The awards recognize the employers that have given exceptional support to the country’s national defense by offering leadership practices and personnel policies to employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
“PRTM’s partners and staff are very proud of all of our Guard and Reserve Military members who have served our great nation in these challenging times,” said Rear Admiral Mike Finley, PRTM’s Global Public Sector managing director. “We accept these awards with gratitude and humility.”
U.S. Navy Commanders Jim Mason and Rich Meyer nominated PRTM for the awards. Mason, a manager at PRTM and active Reservist, recently served a nine-month tour of duty in Afghanistan—his second tour in less than two years. Meyer, a principal at PRTM and active Reservist, is being mobilized to serve at the U.S. embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan for one year to support Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan.
“I am sincerely appreciative of the incredible support I received from both PRTM and my fellow PRTM employees during my deployment,” Mason said. “The care packages, e-mails and genuine concern helped make life more bearable in Afghanistan. PRTM is most deserving of these awards and recognition for how well they treat their Reserve and Guard employees.”
Meyer added, “PRTM has gone above and beyond in taking care of me and my family as I prepare for my mobilization. It is never easy deploying, due to the extended separation from family, but the thoughtful remarks from management and colleagues and knowledge that my family will be taken care of while I am gone has helped make my deployment easier. I sincerely thank PRTM for all the support.”
The Above and Beyond Award ceremony took place on September 10 in San Diego; the Pro Patria Award ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C. at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at the Washington Navy Yard Catering and Convention Center.
