Americold Announces Expansion to Fremont, NE Facility
ATLANTA-(Business Wire)-September 23, 2009 - Americold has begun expansion of its Fremont, NE facility to accommodate customer and market demand. Pallet capacity will increase by 5000, bringing the total facility capacity to 18,679.
The project includes a building expansion and electrical and refrigeration upgrades to the existing facility. The new addition will include 1 additional shipping and receiving dock with 7 additional truck doors, 1 new rail dock with 1 additional rail door, one truck door, a 60-pallet 24-hour blast freezer, and 5000 racked freezer pallet positions. “Our business in Fremont continues to grow with our strategic partners and we are very pleased to work with them on the additional capacity,” said Marvin Willett, Plant Manager. “We continue to develop additional ways to drive efficiencies and cost reductions in energy, transportation, and labor which will enable us to continue to grow our business in Fremont.
The construction project is scheduled to be complete by April 1, 2010. The addition is expected to create approximately 10 new warehouse positions.
