Kylie Minogue and A.R. Rahman Feeling Blue for New Film Soundtrack Now Available in North America and the U.K.

NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-September 22, 2009 - A.R. Rahman has teamed up with pop star Kylie Minogue in his first East/West collaboration since Slumdog Millionaire for the soundtrack of Blue, which hits major digital music stores in the U.S., U.K., and Canada today.

Saavn, a joint venture of Hungama Mobile and [212]MEDIA, is the world’s largest digital packager and distributor of Bollywood entertainment. Saavn worked with its partner T-series, the largest music label in India, to make the music widely available across sites such as iTunes, Amazon.com, eMusic, Napster, Rhapsody, and Saavn.com. Minogue and Rahman collaborated on the soundtrack’s first release, “Chiggy-Wiggy.” All other tracks on the album were composed by Rahman.

When learning about the digital release through Saavn’s and its partners, Rahman said, “I was very excited when I heard about the digital release of the music. "By working with Kylie, I was able to create something truly unique for fans—the music fuses the cultures of mainstream pop, Hindi, and Bhangra."

Blue is one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema this year and has the largest budget of any Bollywood film in history. It was a true global production with scenes shot all over the world and in addition to Minogue’s contribution to the film’s soundtrack, the stunning ocean scenes were captured by underwater specialist cinematographer Pete Zuccarini, who has worked on Hollywood blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean and Deep Blue Sea. Action director James Bomalick who worked on The Fast and the Furious—Tokyo Drift, choreographed the action scenes.

It will hit theaters globally in October. Blue is produced by one of the biggest production houses Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision and directed by Anthony D’Souza this oceanic spectacular features Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Rahul Dev, and Katrina Kaif.
