EMERYVILLE, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 22, 2009 - Sheet Music Plus has reached a company milestone of $25 million in revenue, reinforcing the company’s position as the world’s leading supplier of online sheet music. As sheet music has become a $1.1 billion industry, Sheet Music Plus continues to operate as the industry’s most successful company with the largest catalog of more than 555,000 titles, a new data center and a revamped consumer-friendly Web site.

“Our goal from the start was to create the premier one-stop shop for sheet music, so that anywhere in the world people could buy music whether it is well-known and popular or obscure and specialized,” said Keith Cerny, CEO of Sheet Music Plus. “By surpassing $25 million in revenue and upgrading our team, as well as our technology, we are living up to our vision, while working to ensure the most customer-focused experience possible. Most of our staff are trained musicians, so that a passion for music is a large part of our success.”

In 2009, several company additions contributed to Sheet Music Plus’ continued strength in sales and customer service. In January, Sheet Music Plus hired veteran e-commerce executive, Phillip Moss, who has an extensive technology and operations experience, and previously held leadership positions at Gump’s, Restoration Hardware, More.com and Babycenter.com. Moss was tapped to lead the company’s technology team, infrastructure and site operations and has supported two major company overhauls – the construction of a new Web site and data center.

The newest member of the team is Stephanie Garcia, who joined in August as Chief Marketing Officer. Her experience in e-commerce spans more than a decade, and includes a leadership role at bluelight.com, the vice president of e-commerce at Restoration Hardware and Gump's, and served as the CMO at stylehive.com. Stephanie will lend her expertise in online merchandising, marketing, user experience, advertising and sales to the Sheet Music Plus effort, as well as manage the company's widespread music catalog and customer database.

In addition to strengthening its executive team, the company has improved the capabilities of its service. The Web site, which re-launched in May, now uses Ruby on Rails technology, SOLR for onsite search, and Radiant Content Management System. These upgrades allow Sheet Music Plus to provide significantly more accurate responses to customer queries and more rapidly update the site’s catalog presentation with a revamped data-driven base. Growth has increased 5 percent since the re-launch in May and the company has sold nearly 100,000 orders.

A new data center was established in San Francisco so the company can easily ship 2,000 to 5,000 orders daily. The data center includes a Content Delivery Network, which allows the company to deliver graphics and multimedia content at a more rapid pace to international customers and provide fully automated credit card processing.
