BIRT Exchange Marketplace Now Beta

SAN MATEO, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 22, 2009 - Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTU), the people behind BIRT, today announced the beta launch of the BIRT Exchange Marketplace. The Marketplace is a showcase for applications and services available to the BIRT community, building upon the vibrant business environment that is emerging around BIRT. The Marketplace, which can be found by visiting http://www.birt-exchange.com/marketplace, enables any developer or company to buy, sell and share BIRT related applications, solutions and components. During the current beta phase, the Marketplace is open for submissions from partners and BIRT users. BIRT users are also welcome to download apps on the Marketplace as they become available.

The Marketplace beta site now lists free and paid-for apps from partners as well as from Actuate. Current and potential submissions fall into the following categories:

BIRT designs and templates that work with widely available applications
BIRT data connectors to help access specific data sources
BIRT extensions, components, component libraries
Frameworks or starting points to help use BIRT within specific application architectures
Applications or starter kits to support specific business processes

Furthermore, companies listed with BIRT Exchange as a partner are able to customize a Marketplace micro-site that hosts their apps via a secure, self-service portal.
