Andrew Wechsler, M.D., Joins Estech as Medical Director

SAN RAMON, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 22, 2009 - Endoscopic Technologies, Inc. (d.b.a. Estech®), a leading provider of minimally invasive cardiac surgery devices and disposables, today announced the appointment of Andrew S. Wechsler, M.D., as its medical director. Dr. Wechsler will chair the Estech Medical Advisory Board, which provides guidance on the company’s clinical research, medical education and product development efforts. He will also support the company’s clinical awareness and advocacy initiatives. Dr. Wechsler will continue his role as Stanley K. Brockman professor and chair, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Drexel University College of Medicine.

Dr. Wechsler received his medical degree at State University of New York Downstate and completed his cardiac surgery residency at Duke University. He has served as a council member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Wechsler has been widely recognized for his contributions to the field of cardiac surgery, most recently as the recipient of the prestigious AATS Scientific Achievement Award. From 1999 to 2007, he was editor of the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, where he now serves as editor emeritus.
