Southern California Water Woes Set the Stage for the 2009 Intelligent Use of Water Short Film Competition at the Getty Center

Six filmmakers will showcase their talent for using film as a medium to bring about a greater awareness of the need for water conservation as they vie for cash prizes totaling $15,000 at the 2009 Intelligent Use of Water Film Competition finalists screening event. (www.iuowfilm.com)

 

Presented in partnership by Rain Bird, FilmL.A. and Questex Media Group, the third annual competition gives both amateur and experienced filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their talent while creating awareness of the need for more responsible water use through the power of film.

 

Selected by a panel of judges that includes Gary McVey, executive director of the American Cinema Foundation; Amanda Pope, associate professor at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts; Timothy Brick, Chairman of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; Philip Sokoloski, Manager of Communications, FilmL.A; and Larry Aylward, Editor-in-Chief, Golfdom, the 2009 Intelligent Use of Water Film Competition finalists are:

Small Changes – filmmakers: Jennifer & Christopher Gandin Le – Austin, TX

More or Less – filmmaker: Mark Petersen – Boulder, CO

One Single Bucket – filmmaker: Megan Schuyler and Diana Opong-Parry – Spokane, WA

The Saving Water Song – filmmaker: Keith Cantrell – McPherson, KS
