KARL STORZ Endoskope Relocates Key Logistics Operations to Southbridge, Massachusetts Facility
TUTTLINGEN, Germany-(Business Wire)-September 21, 2009 - KARL STORZ GmbH & Co. KG, a world leader in advanced minimally invasive endoscopic technology and operating room integration solutions, is pleased to announce that it has relocated key logistics departments of its U.S. subsidiary, KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc., from Charlton, Massachusetts, to nearby Southbridge, effective September 21, 2009. The company recently leased the Southbridge building to allow for expansion and upgrading of product warehousing and distribution capabilities within North America.
The 47,000-square-foot Logistics Center in Southbridge provides nearly twice the space as the company’s previous warehouse facility. Renovation of the building produced a state-of-the-art location for warehouse, customer fulfillment, and instrument repair operations.

In addition to housing the company’s finished goods inventory, the new Logistics Center will include a state-of-the-art equipment-reprocessing center, offering systems for enhanced cleaning and workflow that will enable more rapid product turnarounds. The company will also be able to improve workflow in receiving and order picking, as well as other fulfillment functions.
Among the operations that have been relocated to the new building are: Receiving, Incoming Inspection, Customer Returns, Instrument Repair, Quality, Sample Service Center, Warehouse and Shipping.
