Pacific Power Management Has Completed the Largest Solar Power Plant in Placer County
AUBURN, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 17, 2009 - Pacific Power Management, LLC (PPM) announces the completion of Placer County’s largest solar power plant at a school. The 483 kW power plant is now generating solar power for Placer Unified School District (PUHSD), specifically at Del Oro High School in Loomis, CA. PPM financed, owns, and operates the system and PUHSD buys the power generated from the system through a long-term contract known as a power purchase agreement (PPA).
The 483 kW solar power plant generates over 660,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, providing approximately half of the high school’s total energy requirements. The power plant is comprised of PPM’s own proprietary aluminum racking system, a total of 2,304 solar panels and one inverter. The system is monitored by SolarWatch™, PPM’s real time proprietary monitoring system. This project is designed to decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and is estimated to annually reduce the facility’s carbon footprint in an amount equivalent to 1.9 million pounds of CO2, produce enough energy to power 110 homes and equal to planting 20,212 trees.
PPM’s unique PPA allows qualified host customers the ability to buy power at a more predictable rate than from their utility company. PPM’s host customers can realize immediate savings and have the ability to eventually own the system with no upfront cost. PPM manages all of the design, engineering, financing, installation and monitoring.
