MDM Development Celebrates Topping off of Met 2 Financial Center
MIAMI-(Business Wire)-September 17, 2009 - MDM Development, developers of Metropolitan Miami (The Met), the $1 billion mixed-use development emerging in the core of Downtown Miami, today announced the topping off of construction at Met 2 Financial Center.
Met 2 Financial Center is a joint venture between MDM Development Group, and New York-based MetLife, and is comprised of two separate towers connected via a first floor lobby. One is 750,000 square feet of ‘Class A’ office space inside a spectacular office tower, and the second a first-of-its-kind, 42-story JW Marriott Marquis-branded Marriott hotel, and the first Hotel Beaux Arts Miami, a new brand of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio.
“Construction is on schedule for delivery in April 2010,” says Tim Weller, Vice President of MDM Development. “Our construction firm, Suffolk, is continuing on-time for completion and we’re extremely pleased with the progress and excited about finalizing this next stage of Metropolitan Miami.”
Inclusive of impact resistant glass designed to withstand category 5 hurricane winds, the building’s glass enclosure will be completed by December 2009. Met 2, along with the whole of Metropolitan Miami, was designed by the award winning architectural firm Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe.
The amenity-rich tower includes a parking garage with over 1,300 spaces, state-of-the-art telecommunications systems with fiber optic capabilities, 24-hour security, valet parking and more.
Met 2 will be the new home of international law firm Greenberg Traurig; international professional services firm Deloitte; and Business Centers International (BCI), a high-end service workspace solution provider.
The JW Marriott Marquis and Met 2 will also house renowned Chef Daniel Boulud’s DB Bistro Moderne, a huge restaurant amenity to The Met complex, and currently located only in New York City and Vancouver, British Columbia. Met 1 residential tower already houses on its ground level Manny’s Chophouse, the nationally acclaimed steakhouse’s only location outside of its Minneapolis home.
“The value proposition for tenants at Met 2 is compelling,” adds Weller. “Metropolitan Miami is the epicenter of downtown Miami’s emerging urban core, and includes condominium residences, office, hotel, retail and entertainment, on top of being within walking distance of the American Airlines Arena, Bayside, and much more. There’s simply no better location.”
