State to Announce Funding for CO2 Capture Project
PITTSBURGH, Pa.-(Business Wire)-September 16, 2009 - Pennsylvania Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger on Tuesday, Sept. 22 will announce funding for a demonstration project designed to capture a minimum of 95 percent of the carbon dioxide (CO2) from a waste coal-fired test plant near Pittsburgh. The project is a combined effort of three companies —- CONSOL Energy, which provided the site, the coal and technical expertise; PFBC Environmental Energy Technology Inc., which provided the pressurized fluid bed combustion boiler to burn the coal; and Sargas Inc., which provided the innovative and cost-efficient carbon-capture technology.
