FRISCO, Texas-(Business Wire)-September 16, 2009 - Market Street has expanded its popular culinary courses for adults and children to now include its Frisco location at 11999 Dallas Parkway. At the inaugural class to be held on Monday, Sept. 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Market Street Executive Chef Chris Wilson will teach “Living Well With Fall Color,” a course designed to show attendees what to eat, when to eat and how to prepare foods while maintaining a healthy lifestyle this fall season.

For $39, registered attendees will learn how to prepare and then enjoy a four-course, fall-inspired meal featuring Sweet Potato Cakes with Spicy Shrimp, Corn Velvet Soup with Pan-smoked Tomatoes and Beef Tenderloin with Blue Cheese Herb Crust complimented by Quinoa Pilaf, Asparagus with Wild Mushrooms, Grilled Whole-grain Flatbread and Pumpkin Crème Brulee for dessert. Additionally, the Market Street Culinary School staff will pair a variety of wines from Market Street’s extensive collection with each of the dishes and conduct a tasting alongside the cooking demonstrations.

“With the fall season moving into swing and the holiday season just around the corner, the timing is perfect to extend Market Street’s culinary programs to Frisco and its surrounding communities,” Wilson said. “These classes are a great way to demonstrate Market Street’s commitment to a healthier, more nutritious lifestyle that includes the delicious taste and aesthetic appeal of gourmet foods. Our registered dietitians work closely with our trained culinary staff to develop balanced, nourishing recipes that are full of flavor and easy to prepare.”

In addition to evening classes complete with wine pairings and tastings that focus on French cuisine or Tuscan style, Market Street Frisco will host a variety of hands-on, holiday-inspired weekend courses specifically designed for children. From spooky Halloween snacks to traditional Thanksgiving treats and gingerbread house decorating, the kid-friendly classes that have been wildly successful at Market Street’s Colleyville and McKinney locations are divided by age group and vary in difficulty accordingly.

“Market Street has been looking for the right opportunity to grow its culinary program, and I’m so thrilled that Frisco is going to be a part of that,” said Store Director Howdy Cappel. “Having a culinary program really enables us to stay connected with our community members. And our vast curriculum ensures that everyone will be able to find a class that suites their unique needs, whether they’re looking for a fresh date idea, something to do with mom and dad or are just interested in professional cooking.”

All classes will be held in Market Street’s Test Kitchen on the second floor of the company’s regional office attached to the Market Street Frisco store. Prices vary upon content, and a complete list of classes and their corresponding dates and times can be found at www.marketstreetunited.com, or guests can register by calling the Culinary School at 972-548-5167.

Market Street is a unique shopping experience that combines the everyday groceries guests need with the specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and pre-prepared foods they want. In 2003, Market Street opened its first DFW store in Colleyville. Almost identical stores followed in McKinney, Plano, Allen, Frisco and Coppell-Lewisville.

Fans can find Market Street DFW on Facebook and Twitter.
