Stanford Offers New Global Dimension for Advanced Project Management Course
STANFORD, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 15, 2009 - Stanford University today welcomed twenty executive MBA students from Taiwan’s National Tsing Hua University as participants in the Stanford Advanced Project Management Program. These experienced professionals from international hi-tech corporations are part of a unique collaboration incorporating the course, Converting Strategy into Action, into the National Tsing Hua University executive MBA program. “Hsinchu Science Park, where National Tsing Hua University is located, has many companies with similar challenges to those industries located here in the Silicon Valley. This shared learning experience makes it possible for participants from Taiwan and the U.S. to explore project management experiences from a range of perspectives,” says Andy DiPaolo, senior associate dean for the School of Engineering at Stanford University.
“Stanford was chosen for many reasons,” says Kenneth Kin, PhD, associate dean and a professor in the College of Technology Management, Taiwan. Kin was senior vice president for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. “Corporate culture aspects are very important to strategy and execution. Our executive program did not have a project management course with the structure of Converting Strategy into Action. This is the first we have seen that really tries to bridge that gap for effective execution against long-term goals.”
“This course, like our program, will help our executive MBA students in their jobs,” Kin says. “Many have relationships with affiliates in Silicon Valley and this trip will give them growth opportunities for their work, along with a new global perspective, that would not be possible with study exclusively in Taiwan.”
Delivered by the Stanford Center for Professional Development, the Stanford Advanced Project Management curriculum combines Stanford's research and education in strategy, organization theory, and project management with the global project management consulting and executive education capabilities of IPSolutions.
