Exactech Team Wins Distinguished Technology Partnership Excellence Award
GAINESVILLE, Fla.-(Business Wire)-September 15, 2009 - Exactech, Inc. (Nasdaq:EXAC), a developer and producer of bone and joint restoration products for hip, knee, shoulder, spine and biologic materials, announced today that the company has earned the Technology Partnership Award of Excellence from the Association for Operations Management (APICS).
The award recognizes the effort of employees throughout Exactech who improved customer service and order-fulfillment times through implementation of a new forecasting and planning software system.
In 2008, Exactech established a company-wide goal to increase the accuracy of its “demand planning” - delivering the right mix of products, in the ideal quantities, at the right time. Exactech Vice President of Operations John Pelc said, “With our continued growth and the increased complexity of our global supply chain, we recognized the need to implement new measurable, performance-driving processes while monitoring our ongoing operations with increased accuracy. This new system allows us to forecast and plan more proactively, optimize our manufacturing schedules, balance cost with high customer service, minimize inventory investments and streamline distribution operations.”
The completed project was the result of more than a year of cross-functional collaboration to identify requirements and implement the new system. Project team leaders will accept the award on behalf of Exactech at a ceremony in Toronto on October 5.
