OptiMedica Names Alan Marquardt as New Vice President, Regulatory, Clinical and Quality

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 15, 2009 - Global ophthalmic company OptiMedica Corp. has appointed Alan Marquardt to the newly created position of vice president, regulatory, clinical and quality. Marquardt joins OptiMedica with more than two decades of equivalent senior management experience at several well-known medical device companies.

Marquardt joins OptiMedica following a twenty-seven year career that included officer-level regulatory, clinical and quality affairs positions at companies including Sanarus Medical, Kyphon, Guidant Corp., UroQuest Medical Corporation, EP Technologies/Boston Scientific Corp., Schneider U.S. Stent/Pfizer and Medtronic. During this time, he developed expertise in the domestic and international management of pre- and post-market clinical trials, patient registries, pre-market and market approvals (PMA, 510(k) and CE Mark) as well as various quality initiatives including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), QSIT (Quality System Inspection Technique) and ISO 9000. Marquardt also has officer-level experience in corporate development and strategic planning.
