AmMed Direct® Named Nashville’s Fastest-Growing Company
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-(Business Wire)-September 14, 2009 - AmMed Direct, a Nashville-based provider of diabetes testing supplies, prescription medications and support services for people with diabetes, has been named the fastest-growing private company in the Middle Tennessee area by the Nashville Business Journal. The company topped the Nashville Business Journal’s list of the 25 Fastest-Growing Companies.
AmMed Direct’s revenue has grown 1,130 percent over the past three years, while the number of employees has grown from 160 at the beginning of 2007 to almost 500 today.

Much of AmMed Direct’s growth can be attributed to its direct interaction with patients, as well as the addition of the AmMed HomeCare Pharmacy in 2005.
The pharmacy operation serves patients in all 50 states and currently fills thousands of prescriptions every day. It recently earned Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS) accreditation from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. VIPPS-certified pharmacies must demonstrate compliance with patient rights to privacy, authentication and security of prescription orders, adherence to a recognized quality assurance policy, and provision of meaningful consultation between patients and pharmacists.
