NEWBERG, Ore.-(Business Wire)-September 14, 2009 - The most highly anticipated hotel opening in America’s Pacific Northwest, The Allison Inn & Spa is now open in Newberg, Oregon. The first full-service luxury accommodation fills a long-awaited need in the popular Willamette Valley wine country known for world-class Pinot Noir. The Allison features a signature restaurant, 12-treatment-room spa and fitness studio, covered indoor pool and 12,000 square feet of meeting and social gathering space.

The Inn is the first and only Preferred Boutique™ Hotel in Oregon, joining a collection of the world’s most exquisite, intimate hotels and resorts.

Located only 25 miles southwest of Portland, The Allison offers guests the opportunity to enjoy quiet, refined elegance within the surrounding 35 acres of landscaped and natural areas, The Allison’s own vineyards, nearby rolling hills and mountains.

Each of the 85 deluxe guestrooms inclusive of 20 suites features bay window seats, fireplaces and terraces or balconies. The rooms range in size from nearly 500 to more than 1,500 square feet. Many offer pastoral views of indigenous oaks and conifers, neighboring vineyards and more than 70,000 recently planted trees, grasses, shrubs and perennials.

The Allison is owned by Newberg resident and philanthropist Joan Austin and her family, whose roots date back seven generations. Mrs. Austin’s directive to the hundreds of project leaders, consultants and employees building the property was simple, “do it right.” She was involved in almost every decision with an eye to detail, quality and integrity.

Managing Director Pierre Zreik comes to The Allison after a long career managing U.S. and offshore luxury hotels and resorts. The Allison is Zreik’s eighth hotel opening. He trained at the Lycee Technique Hoteliere in Grenoble, France. This is his third return to Oregon after serving as General Manager of the Heathman Hotel and opening Avalon Hotel & Spa, both in Portland.

Highlights of The Allison Inn & Spa:

Lobby and Living Room: After a warm welcome upon arriving under the Inn’s inviting glass, metal and stone porte cochere, the lobby and Living Room provide the first impression for guests to experience the design and aesthetic. The dramatic Living Room, with its wall of windows framing the surrounding terroir, features a welcoming fireplace, dramatic pieces of original Oregon art and art glass, hand-crafted rugs, comfortable furnishings throughout and on the outdoor terrace.

Guestrooms and Suites: Each accommodation has a spacious spa-like bathroom with soaking tubs and double sinks, plush linen robes and specialty bath and grooming products. Wet bars and mini-refrigerators, Bose sound systems and the latest technology systems provide added convenience. Rates range from $295 to $1,100. Pets may join their owners for a $50 fee per stay and receive special welcome packets.

Spa and Fitness Studio: In addition to the 12 treatment rooms, there are men’s, women’s and co-ed lounges with spacious outdoor areas, private spa suite for small gatherings, sauna and spa pool. The nearby covered pool gains light and air from the folding glass doors. Directed by Tara Calton, the spa features Pacific Northwest treatments and products, including ‘pinotherapy’ influenced by the region’s famed Pinot Noir wines. The Allison Spa is committed to organic and biodynamic product lines and an holistic approach to health and healing.

The Restaurant and Bar: Featuring Oregon Wine Country Cuisine is the inn’s restaurant Jory, so named for a soil type that produces Oregon’s Pinots. Jory is led by Ercolino Crugnale, Director of Food and Wine; Nathan Lockwood, Executive Chef and Tom Bean, Restaurant Manager. Features include two private dining rooms for 10 and 18 guests, outdoor dining terraces, private Chef’s Table and an Open Kitchen. Jory’s one-acre chef’s garden provides seasonal vegetables, fruits and herbs. As Oregon wine country’s premier inn and spa, Jory features 700 wines on its impressive list and 50 by the glass. Jory is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and weekend brunch.

Original Art Throughout: Guided by Loni Austin Parrish, daughter of Joan and Ken Austin Jr., hundreds of original paintings, photography, glass and sculpture were custom selected for The Allison. Every guestroom, the spa, swimming pool area, restaurant, bar and meeting rooms have original Oregon art. Experts say most luxury hotels have some original art but few, if any, source all of the works from their own state. Exquisite hand-crafted wooden desks, tables in the private dining rooms and Chef’s Table all were designed and/or made by Ken Austin, III.

Meetings, Weddings, Social Events: The well-designed public spaces for private functions extend to outdoor terraces and formal gardens for lovely summer and autumn weddings and other social gatherings. The Coppergold Ballroom is central to the function space, offering 4,500 square feet for a capacity of 300. The Reception Foyer adds another 4,200 square feet of dedicated space and various terraces and meeting rooms can accommodate 10 to 300 guests inclusive of a Board Room.

Going for The Gold (LEED): The Allison is on track to receive LEED Gold Certification. Helping win this prestigious environmental distinction is The Allison’s use of solar-heated water and photo voltaic cells that generate 7 percent of the hotel’s electric needs. No plastic bottles or containers are used by the gym, spa, restaurant, public rooms or guestrooms. The guest wing roof is covered with a slate-like recycled material and a sedum plant-covered “eco-roof” tops the meeting space. Settling ponds will help control run-off.
