Orbit Baby Debuts Innovative OrganicFR™ Car Seat Footmuffs and Upholsteries
NEWARK, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 14, 2009 - Orbit Baby Inc., makers of thoughtfully designed premium infant–to-toddler strollers and car seat systems, today announced the introduction of a new green fabric made with their innovative OrganicFR™ technology, which is used in a line of Green Edition accessories for its unique child transportation system.
OrganicFR™ is the first fabric in the industry to incorporate organic cotton, free of the harsh chemicals that have typically been used by other car seat manufacturers, while still meeting car seat flame retardancy requirements. OrganicFR™ is a part of the OrbitGreen™ program, and like all of the OrbitGreen™: Certified Fabrics, it is easier on children’s skin.
The new Green Edition line of products using OrganicFR™ fabrics will debut at the ABC Kids Expo, September 13-16 in Las Vegas, and includes footmuffs to keep children warm and snug in the fall and winter seasons, and slip-on natural upholsteries for Orbit Baby car seats.
The company's exclusive OrganicFR™ fabric technology features an interlocking dual-layer construction and is made entirely of a blend of natural fabrics. OrganicFR™ combines the breathable, soft qualities of organic cotton on the exposed top surface, while utilizing the natural flame retardant qualities of wool in the interwoven bottom layer. All fabrics and even foam used in these accessories are certified Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.
These Green Edition accessories all meet the government’s stringent flame retardancy standards for car interiors and car seats, and are designed for all Orbit Baby products. Orbit Baby car seat and stroller systems have unique engineering and safety features, 360-degree rotation, ergonomic operation and a modular design that adapts to children as they grow from infant to toddler.
The Green Edition footmuffs are lined with OrganicFR™ fabric on the interior, and an eco-certified, weather-resistant fabric on the exterior. They come in small and large sizes, for infants through toddlers, and can be used with any car seat or stroller. Orbit Baby is proud to introduce the only organic footmuffs on the market.

All child car seats must meet stringent flame retardancy standards required by the government (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards FMVSS 302). In the past, many car seat manufacturers have met these requirements by treating their fabrics with brominated and chlorinated chemicals that may be harmful to children, but Orbit Baby strives to meet all required standards without these potentially harmful chemicals on all of its car seat products. Orbit Baby is committed to developing products that are safe for children, and to doing more than any other baby gear manufacturer to eliminate PVC, chrome-plating, brominated chemicals and other harmful materials from its supply chain.
