WASHINGTON-(Business Wire)-September 10, 2009 - CTIA–The Wireless Association® announced today that its CDMA Certification Program has been integrated into the CDMA Certification Forum’s (CCF) process, providing the wireless industry a single evaluation and certification system for all CDMA2000 devices.

By moving the North American-centric CTIA program into the global CCF process, vendors now have a single place to go for CDMA2000 device certification, regardless of the market for the device. Vendors will now use the same system worldwide, resulting in a more streamlined and consistent evaluation.

Vendors seeking CTIA Certification for devices will now apply for CCF Certification with a “CTIA Certification Market Endorsement.” This endorsement will mean that the CDMA2000 device has met not only the CCF’s global certification requirements, but has also met the requirements of CTIA’s CDMA Certification Program.

“By merging CTIA’s CDMA Certification Program with CCF, vendors can more efficiently get their wireless devices tested and certified,” said Steve Largent, CTIA-The Wireless Association President and CEO. “In today’s fiercely competitive wireless marketplace where timing is everything, this is an important step to assist companies with getting their products out in the market quicker.”

CDMA2000 devices that may be certified by the CCF include, but are not limited to, mobile phones, fixed wireless phones, smartphones, wireless data modems, PCMCIA cards, USB modems, telemetry devices and computing devices with embedded modules.
