GovSec, U.S. Law Announces Specialized Digital Forensics Exhibition
FALLS CHURCH, Va.-(Business Wire)-September 10, 2009 - GovSec, U.S. Law, produced by 1105 Government Information Group, the leading provider of integrated information and media for the government information technology (IT) market, today announced an additional feature to its 2010 exhibition. “Focus on Digital Forensics” will provide an avenue for federal, state and local law enforcement attendees to interact with leading-edge companies that provide solutions to extract/enhance data from technological devices to support investigations into terrorism, cyber crime, espionage, and other criminal activity. GovSec, U.S. Law will take place March 23-24, 2010 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
“Law enforcement agencies at all levels—federal, state, and local—are confronted daily by information-age crime,” said Tim Clancy, Senior Program Manager for Cybersecurity at the Center for Infrastructure Protection of George Mason University. “Digital forensic capabilities and know-how are critical to help investigate and prosecute increasingly sophisticated cyber criminals.”
As part of GovSec, U.S. Law, Focus on Digital Forensics allows homeland security and law enforcement attendees to meet with their peers in industry to collaborate on how innovative technology can assist in investigating terrorist and criminal activities.
GovSec, U.S. Law is working with two esteemed leaders in the field, DFI News (Digital Forensics Investigator) and Forensics Magazine, to co-sponsor the Focus on Digital Forensics portion of the event.
“Images, video, and data from computers, telephones, and other digital recording devices can make or break criminal investigations and court cases,” added the Forensics Unit of the Fairfax County, Virginia Police Department. “The training and expertise to forensically recover and analyze this evidence is vital to our abilities to interrupt illegal activities and successfully prosecute offenders.”
“As technological innovation occurs at an astounding rate, it is necessary to continually update digital forensics practice and education,” said Rebecca Waters, Chief Editor, DFI News. “Focus on Digital Forensics allows public sector professionals to learn about the latest tools in the market, helping them continue to use digital forensics to identify, prevent, and prosecute criminals who are increasingly relying on technology to perpetrate their crimes.”
Focus on Digital Forensics will have its own unique space on the GovSec, U.S. Law show floor dedicated to those companies focusing primarily on digital forensics, as well as its own listing in the GovSec, U.S. Law Show Directory and on the website.
