Warren Pereira’s “Who’s Good Looking?” Limited Theatrical Release at Laemmle Sunset 5 September 11th, 12th and 13th 2009
LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-September 10, 2009 - Writer/Director Warren Pereira’s award-winning short film “Who’s Good Looking?” (7 min.) will have a limited three day theatrical release at the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theatre (8000 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90046). The film will screen off a 35 mm print twice a day on September 11th, 12th and 13th at 1:15pm and 1:25pm. This limited theatrical release will be the official Best Short Film Academy Award Qualifying Run for “Who’s Good Looking?”
“Who’s Good Looking?” is a clever relationship comedy that exposes aesthetic obsession: Narcous (Warren Pereira) questions his fiancé’s (Katie O’ Grady) notions of beauty. A sarcastic simmer boils over as the couple storms through a skincare boutique. The film is shot in a single take.
Portland reviewer Dylan de Thomas commented that Pereira’s films are “…known for being witty and urbane, a mix between the dialogue of Woody Allen’s 70’s relationship comedies with the slinky camera work and exacting blocking of a Brian De Palma or Paul Thomas Anderson.”
“Who’s Good Looking?” screened as a work-in-progress at the Santa Monica Vine Short Film Festival in November 2007. Based on the work-in-progress screenings, adjustments were made to the film and it was officially completed in January 2008. Since then, “Who’s Good Looking?” has been an official selection at numerous top-tier film festivals including the Portland International Film Festival, Beverly Hills International Film Festival, LA International Short Film Festival, Miami International Short Film Festival, Method Fest, Atlanta Film Festival and Malibu International Film Festival. “Who’s Good Looking?” received the Accolade Competition Award of Merit in 2009.
