SANTA ROSA, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 9, 2009 - Food & Wine magazine, one of the nation’s top culinary arts publications has announced the winners of their prestigious 12th Annual American Wine Awards, naming Siduri Winery’s 2007 Sonoma County Pinot Noir the Best American Pinot Noir under $20. The category and the varietal reflect two of the wine industry’s hottest trends: the focus on value wines in today’s economy and the popularity of Pinot Noir, which has skyrocketed since its starring role in the Academy Award™-winning film “Sideways”.

In their article naming the Siduri 2007 Sonoma County Pinot Noir the best American Pinot under $20, Food & Wine stated “This entry-level bottling from Adam and Dianna Lee’s acclaimed high-end winery showcases the sophisticated side of Pinot. Juicy, creamy and ripe, with a plush texture, it balances its impressive body with vivid aromatics and a delicate acidity.”

“We are thrilled,” exclaimed winery owner Dianna Novy Lee, who makes the Siduri wines with her husband and co-winemaker Adam Lee, “this is a terrific acknowledgement of our efforts to produce top-tier Pinot Noir from California’s finest vineyards at prices that allow people to sample and enjoy our wines.”

At just over 1,300 cases, the Siduri 2007 Sonoma County Pinot Noir is the largest production wine made by the small “warehouse winery”, best known for its portfolio of limited production, single-vineyard Pinot Noir. While the wine is still available at select wine shops and restaurants nationally, the 2007 vintage is sold out at the winery. Those interested, however, can join the winery’s mailing list for first access to Siduri’s 2008 vintage of Pinot Noirs as well as the winery’s line of Novy Wines, including Syrah, Zinfandel, Grenache, Viognier, Nebbilo and Pinot Meunier.

Now in its 12th year, Food & Wine’s American Wine Awards shines a spotlight on the industry’s finest, with categories including Best Winemaker, Best Importer, Best New Winery, Best Wines under $20 and Best Wines over $20. The winners are chosen by Food & Wine’s Richard Nalley together with a blue ribbon panel of wine writers and educators. The list of winners appears in the October, 2009 issue of Food & Wine and is posted on the magazine’s website at www.foodandwine.com.
