Budget Blinds® Announces New Safer Continuous Loop Cord Tension Device on Its Signature Series® Window Treatments
ORANGE, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 9, 2009 - Budget Blinds announced today that its Signature Series® window treatments will feature a new Continuous Loop Cord Tension Device, which will enhance the safety of the product line’s cellular shades, pleated shades and Roman classic shades with continuous loop cords.
The Window Covering Safety Council reports that since 1990, over 200 strangulation deaths have occurred in the United States after young children became entangled in dangling window cords. In Canada, 28 strangulation deaths have been reported since 1986, according to Health Canada.
The new cord tension device will inhibit shade operation unless the device is mounted to the wall. This change was made in anticipation of stricter safety standards being made to the Window Covering Safety Standard, ANSI A100.1.

The new tension devices were first installed on Signature Series® window treatments on July 27, 2009. Signature Series by Budget Blinds® is available exclusively through Budget Blinds franchises throughout the United States and Canada.
In addition to this new tension device, Budget Blinds has a variety of cordless window treatments which eliminate operation cords that can be very tempting, but dangerous, playthings to small children and animals.
