Raleigh Area’s Midtown Community Church Announces Its Opening Service
RALEIGH, N.C.-(Business Wire)-September 9, 2009 - Midtown Community Church announces its inaugural service this Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Middle School. Leading the church plant is pastor Lindsey Williams, a native of the city of Raleigh.
Pastor Williams is the son of a local politician and university professor and he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997. After a couple of years working for IBM, Lindsey sensed his call to pastoral ministry and moved to Charlotte, NC, where he attended seminary and received a Masters of Divinity. His five-year service as associate pastor at Uptown Church in Charlotte focused on outreach, mercy ministry, small groups and pastoral care. After seeing the impact of church planting in the Charlotte area, he decided to move back to the Raleigh area to implement these ideals in a place he has always called home.
"In a city and a nation where the number of people attending church has been on a steady decline, we are excited to form a new community of faith that seeks to share new life for the sake of a renewed city,” states Reverend Williams. “We hope visitors will join us as we seek to develop an authentic relationship with others and with God."
Midtown Community Church hopes to reach both the de-churched and un-churched people of Raleigh, ministering primarily in the Northwest Raleigh area with a desire to focus efforts on those inside the 440 beltline to those up towards the 540 area. Their desire is to minister through small groups in the following geographic areas: Falls River, Brier Creek, North Hills, Crabtree, West Raleigh, Stonehenge, and ITB.
Midtown Community Church is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America. To learn more please visit www.midtown-church.org.
