Pittsburgh-Based Foundation to Unveil Breakthrough in Low-Cost Water Purification Technology at G-20 Summit
PITTSBURGH-(Business Wire)-September 8, 2009 - Project EviivE, a Pittsburgh-based non-profit group, will reveal its plan and technology to alleviate the world’s growing fresh water crisis at the G-20 Summit, to be held later this month, September 24-25, in Pittsburgh, PA.
According to reports by the World Health Organization, water scarcity affects one in three people on every continent of the globe and the situation is getting worse as needs for water rise along with population growth and urbanization. In fact, half of all the hospital beds in the world are occupied by people sick from waterborne illness.
Project EviivE’s mission is made possible through the use of a water purification technology developed by Epiphany Solar Water Systems (SWS), another Pittsburgh-based company. Epiphany’s groundbreaking technology utilizes solar energy to distill unclean water in a way that is simple, inexpensive, and sustainable. Tom Joseph, founder and President, Epiphany SWS, has spent over 4 years perfecting the technology, with the intention of providing potable water to the poor and underserved around the globe by using our natural resources combined with innovative equipment at little or no cost to the end user communities.
Project EviivE is seeking private and corporate sponsors for partnerships with this effort and is currently in discussion with several local corporations.
