Burlington Coat Factory Reports First Quarter 2010 Sales

BURLINGTON, N.J.-(Business Wire)-September 4, 2009 - Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation announced today that net sales from continuing operations for the first quarter ended August 29, 2009 were $704.6 million compared with $706.7 million for the comparative period ended August 30, 2008, a 0.3% decrease. Comparative store sales decreased 6.9% for the period.

Tom Kingsbury, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Sales this quarter were in line with our plan as last year’s comparable quarter is our most difficult comparison. Given our continued focus on expense management, we expect Adjusted EBITDA in this quarter to increase versus last year.”

As of September 4, 2009, the Company operated 433 stores in 44 states and Puerto Rico, principally under the name “Burlington Coat Factory”.
