Special 9-11-Anniversary Event in Oakland With Key Celebrities on Hand for Unveiling Part of the Remember Them Sculpture

| WHAT: | Artist-Sculptor Mario Chiodo will unveil the first part of the 50 foot long by 22 feet high monument | |
| “REMEMBER THEM CHAMPIONS FOR HUMANITY” | ||
- It will be the largest bronze sculpture in the Western United States
- Humanitarian Maya Angelou to deliver special taped remarks
- Humanitarian Ruby Bridges will be on hand to unveil the portion of the monument featuring Ruby Bridges and Maya Angelou
- Holocaust Survivor and youngest member on Oskar Schindler's List Leon Leyson will be on hand to comment on sculpture of Oskar Schindler and the other 24 humanitarians.
The Maya-Ruby portion of the monument will be bronzed and placed in a new downtown Oakland Park early next year.
The entire monument should be completed late next year.

| WHY: | This is a celebration of the completion of a major phase of this monument. Mario Chiodo's motivation and inspiration for this came on Sept 11, 2001 a great American tragedy, but a trigger for Mario Chiodo to "make a statement" about humanity, heroes and finding ways to avoid ever having a 9-11 ever again. | ||||
| This is also a fundraiser to help meet the goals to complete this project in a timely manner. Total price for completion is $7.1 million. So far the Remember Them Advisory committee has raised nearly $3 million. |
