Ready Golf Issues Press Statement
LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-September 3, 2009 - Today, Ready Golf issued the following press statement:
Ready Golf was disappointed to learn today that the Kishi company has resorted to tactics such as publicly questioning Mayor Villaraigosa's integrity and the transparency of the City's RFP process in an eleventh hour attempt to hold onto a contract they have held for the past 40 years. In fact, the RFP process conducted by the Department of Recreation and Parks for the golf cart concession was a model of fairness and transparency, utilizing an independent panel of golf professionals from other cities and counties throughout Southern California and providing abundant opportunities for all parties to be heard.
At every step in this long process, every body that has evaluated the RFP responses – the independent panel, the outside consultant, the department staff, the Board of Commissioners, the CAO, and the Council's committee – have unanimously and unequivocally determined that the City will receive more money and better service from Ready Golf than from Kishi. Kishi's performance over the past 40 years has significantly lagged behind every other publicly operated golf facility in Southern California, at a cost of millions of dollars in lost rent to the City.
We hope that these salacious tactics from one of City's Hall's most prodigious insiders does not cause the Council to ignore their Charter mandated process, especially when it has been executed in such a fair and equitable manner.
