Golden Gate Opera Presents “Hansel & Gretel”; 2009 Fall Performance

SAUSALITO, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 2, 2009 - Golden Gate Opera proudly presents Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, the world famous fairy tale opera classic, fully staged with orchestra, Friday October 23, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday October 25, 2 p.m. at Marin Center’s Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael.

Sung in English with English Supertitles, the production is led by conductor Geoffrey Gallegos, directed by Edna Garabedian with brilliant fairy tale sets by scenic designer Patrick Krobroth.

WHO:		Golden Gate Opera

WHAT:		Engelbert Humperdinck’s world famous classic, “HANSEL AND GRETEL,” the enchanting fairy tale adventure opera based on the story by the brothers Grimm, is fully-staged with Golden Gate Opera Orchestra, featuring colorful storybook sets by designer Patrick Krobroth, magical lighting by designer John Jacobs, brilliant fairy tale costumes designed by Tracy Bell Redig.

		This opera is always an opportunity for families to bring children to the opera audience for a family arts experience long remembered. Professional opera singers, both international and rising local talents, are joined onstage by a children's chorus and children's ballet. This opera is performed annually on the world’s most famous opera house stages and comes to Marin for the first time since 1987.
