Marconi Foundation for Kids and Covenant House Host West Coast Premiere of “An Afternoon of Broadway Stars”
TUSTIN, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 1, 2009 - The Marconi Foundation for Kids (www.marconimuseum.org), a nonprofit organization making contributions to local children’s charities through special events and individual/group tours, today announced the West Coast premiere of “An Afternoon of Broadway Stars” to benefit Covenant House California. The event takes place September 27 from 2-5 p.m. at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin, Calif.
“An Afternoon of Broadway Stars is such a unique event in our community,” said Priscilla “Bo” Marconi, CEO of Marconi Foundation for Kids. “Bringing Broadway stars to Southern California is a great way to encourage attendance to an event that will benefit the importance of Covenant House’s mission to serve youth suffering from homelessness, abuse and neglect.”
The afternoon will begin with a pre-show reception complete with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by a VIP “Meet the Stars” dessert show. Neil Berg, renowned Broadway composer and lyricist, will serve as master of ceremonies. The show will feature 20 performances by some of Broadway’s brightest stars recreating their roles from such productions as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, and Jekyll and Hyde. Broadway stars already confirmed to attend the event in addition to Berg include: Carter Calvert, Rob Evan, Rita Harvey, Capathia Jenkins, and Danny Zolli.
