Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and Stanford Hospital & Clinics Reach Contract Agreement with SEIU United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW)
STANFORD, Calif.-(Business Wire)-August 28, 2009 - Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and Stanford Hospital & Clinics announce that the hospitals have reached a new contract agreement with employees represented by the SEIU United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) union. The SEIU-UHW membership, which represents 1,450 out of 9,172 employees at the hospitals in jobs such as housekeeping, food service, nursing assistants, and technicians, ratified the contract in a vote Thursday, August 27.
"We are incredibly pleased to have reached an agreement for a two-year contract with SEIU-UHW,” said Martha Marsh, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stanford Hospital & Clinics, and Christopher Dawes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Packard Children’s. “This contract preserves the hospitals’ ability to maintain high quality patient care and provides employees with competitive wages and benefits in light of the current economic environment. The new contract balances our responsibility to our patients, our employees and our community while ensuring the long-term viability of our hospitals.”
Highlights of the new contract include:
- 2% across the board wage increases each year.
- An additional 2% annual step increase for those eligible.
- And the same level and range of benefits options provided to all other Stanford and Packard Children’s non-represented employees and CRONA RNs.
