SEATTLE-(Business Wire)-August 28, 2009 - PetroCard Systems, Inc. (PetroCard), a leading fuels and lubrication distributor in the Pacific Northwest, today received the National Minority Supplier-Distributor of the Year Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The award recognizes minority-owned firms that have demonstrated ongoing and substantial revenues as well as deep market penetration, had a positive impact on their community through societal and environmental contributions, and created jobs. PetroCard, a subsidiary of Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC), provides millions of dollars in dividends each year to the company’s more than 8,000 Yupik, Athabasan and Aleut shareholders and has doubled its number of employees since 2005.

"We are proud to be a minority-owned business and share this prestigious award with all of our native shareholders,” said Steve Tolton, CEO of PetroCard. “Our team is dedicated to the success of the BBNC and to supporting our local communities.”

Over the past several years, PetroCard has substantially increased its market penetration by acquiring seven fueling and lubricant firms in the Pacific Northwest. In 2009, the company opened its first compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Seattle, providing the first public-access CNG facility in the city. PetroCard also regularly donates to community organizations focused on youth programs, hunger prevention and providing assistance to abused mothers and children.

The MBDA awardees represent "best in class" as determined by an independent panel of evaluators who considered the nominations from across the United States. PetroCard will be honored at a gala event on Friday, August 28th in Washington D.C. during the 27th Annual National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference. The MED Conference is the largest federally-sponsored conference held on behalf of the minority business enterprise community.

“At MBDA, we are creating the foundation for a new generation of $100 million minority-owned businesses,” said MBDA’s National Director, David Hinson. “The minority firms recognized by these awards represent those companies well on their way to achieving this goal. The minority business community plays a critical role in the recovery and reinvestment of our national economy.”

PetroCard currently offers its fuel services via three primary methods: via mobile fueling, via “cardlocks,” or unattended, self-serve fueling stations and as well as via delivery to bulk fuel tanks. PetroCard is one of the largest cardlock operators in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to its fuel services, PetroCard Systems currently sells lubricants to many different classes of trades such as retail chains, wholesale operations, automotive installers, commercial and heavy-duty fleets out of its two offices located in Arlington and Spokane, Washington and now Clackamas, Oregon. PetroCard is the largest ExxonMobil distributor in Washington State.
