GREEN BAY, Wis.-(Business Wire)-August 27, 2009 - Asking College Students for ideas on Retirement is akin to asking Baby Boomers ‘bout theirs:
The Baby Boom Generation couldn’t spell IRA, either, apparently!

Nevertheless, to inspire the new generation of US College Students to think seriously about their retirement - and their financial future - the iOme Challenge has been thrown on their table:

$16,OOO first place prize + plus an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC for the best, new, retirement plan/idea/scheme created by Generation Y – for Generation Y - when Generation Y retires some 40 years from now. (Serious?)

Teams of college, technical college, community college and university students – with a faculty advisor - are being challenged to compete for a large cash prize (that will, we hope, symbolically grow as more iOme financial sponsors are recruited).

The iOme Blue Ribbon Panel of academics from Yale University, the University of Chicago and the University of Maryland – as well as business leaders and entrepreneurs - will select one winning idea and three honorable mentions.

In addition to the cash, the winning team will be sent to Washington DC to present their Blue Ribbon ideas to policy makers in January - when President Obama is expected to address The Retirement Challenge in his State of the Union address. Not only will the winning team earn a pile of cash, their ideas may change their future, and the future of an entire generation!
