West Coast University Welcomes New President/Chief Executive Officer
COSTA MESA, Calif.-(Business Wire)-August 26, 2009 - West Coast University has appointed Barry T. Ryan, J.D., Ph.D., as President/Chief Executive Officer of West Coast University. Dr. Ryan will be responsible for all operations and strategic development for the 100-year-old institution.
Dr. Ryan has had a diverse career in higher education, serving as a faculty member and administrator. For over a decade he taught both history and law in public and private university settings. A tenured professor in both disciplines, he was the recipient of numerous outstanding teaching awards. Prior to joining West Coast University, Dr. Ryan was President of Argosy University, Southern California, with responsibility for all four of its campuses. He also previously held positions as a provost and vice president at other universities on the East and West coasts. Additionally, Dr. Ryan served as the United States Supreme Court Judicial Fellow under former Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist.

Dr. Ryan holds a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, the University of California, Berkeley; a Ph.D. in European History ("With Distinction") from the University of California, Santa Barbara; an M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary; and a B.A. (magna cum laude) in History from Westmont College. In addition, he was a visiting scholar at the Warburg Institute of the University of London and Vice Chair and Trustee of the Tyndale Society, Oxford, England.

Previous President and Chief Executive Officer, David Pyle, will move into the role of Executive Chairman of the Board for West Coast University. Mr. Pyle will remain as American Career College Chief Executive Officer.
