AUSTIN, Texas-(Business Wire)-August 25, 2009 - As the countdown to kickoff continues, so does the shifting in ticket prices for the hottest college football games of the regular season. The overall average ticket price for the Top 25 games decreased from $386 last week to $368 this week. With 16 of the 25 games considered rivalries, a closer look reveals some games increased in price while others decreased. Which games saw the greatest shifts in price?

Florida at LSU and Arkansas versus Texas A&M,” answers Randy Cohen, CEO and founder of TicketCity. A ticket to the Florida at LSU increased by $111 and moved in ranking from seventh to third while the greatest drop in average ticket price, with a decrease of $192, was the Arkansas versus Texas A&M game. Formerly ranked as the second most in-demand game, it is now seventh. “The Florida at LSU game involving the two former champions is catching more buzz as the season draws nearer but the Arkansas versus Texas A&M game is experiencing the opposite,” comments Cohen.

Despite the hype around reviving the Razorback and Aggie rivalry in the New Cowboys Stadium, prices are likely to fall. “Though the New Cowboys Stadium is incredible, it’s going to be difficult for the teams to fill all of the seats,” states Rafael Rivas, VP of Sales for TicketCity. However, not all college football games hosted in the new stadium are experiencing the same difficulty. “The BYU versus Oklahoma game set in the New Cowboys Stadium will remain strong as it’s a matchup between two ranked teams versus two unranked teams.”

The USC at Ohio State game held its number one spot despite a decrease in price by $135. “Prices and rankings will continue to fluctuate as we get closer to kickoff and especially once the season starts,” says Randy Cohen, CEO and founder of TicketCity. “In the instance of a non-conference matchup like USC at Ohio State, both teams will likely enter the matchup as undefeated which will keep demand up and prices high.” The average ticket price for the game fell from $842 to $707.

Three games were bumped from this week’s list including Florida at South Carolina, Georgia at Oklahoma State and Nevada at Notre Dame. This left room for Iowa at Penn State, Auburn at LSU and Tennessee at Alabama to move up onto the list.

Though several other high demand games didn’t make it to this list, they will likely appear in the coming weeks. “If Oklahoma State can stay undefeated and hold a solid ranking, the Georgia at OSU and OSU at Texas will both be strong games,” stated Rivas. “Another game to watch as ticket prices fluctuate is the Alabama at Ole Miss game on October 10. Bama fans travel well and with Oxford only three hours from Birmingham, tickets will be in high demand.”
